Wilsons Supports the Macmillan Coffee Morning

Here at Wilsons we are proud to support Macmillan Cancer Support by taking part in the Macmillan Coffee Morning. All of our staff are encouraged to bake or be a willing buyer, so that we could raise as much money as possible for a fantastic charity.

Our team produced a tasty array of cakes, bakes and cookies to choose from, but the star of the show was a fantastic Wilsons tyre cake donated to us by The Cake Sisters. It was decorated with our company logo and two edible miniature cars. Our own star baker was HR Administrator Gareth Williams who took the title of 'best baker' thanks to his delicious lemon sponge cake.

In total we raised a wonderful £600, which included a generous company contribution.

Macmillan's Coffee Morning began back in 1990 and involved guests donating the cost of their drink to Macmillan. Originally it was only a small event, but it proved so popular that it grew on a national scale. Since then, Coffee Mornings have raised over £138 million for Macmillan, with £25 million raised from last year alone. This year they are aiming to raise even more!

There are currently 2.5 million people living with cancer in the UK. Statistically one in three of us will get cancer and that is where Macmillan comes in. They are experts in providing medical, emotional, practical and financial support for anyone suffering with cancer.
