What are the best electric cars to buy in Surrey?

The number of electric cars on UK roads grows daily and understandably so. Not only are they environmentally friendly, but they are also cheaper to run and smoother to drive. So the big question is: what are the best electric cars?

Well, the good news is that there is a great selection available now, so whether you have a big or a small budget, want new or used, there will be something for you.

Let’s start with the new. The technology in electric vehicles just gets better and better. With every new electric car release, the innovations exceed the last and battery life increases. But many people worry about the cost of buying a new electric car. Thankfully, Hyundai has released the Kona which will alleviate fears of both cost and battery life. It has great acceleration, excellent range (259 miles on the 64kWh model) and comes reasonably priced. The all-new PEUGEOT e-208 is another great option. It’s a lively little car that follows in the footsteps of its combustion engine friends by being compact and great around towns. Another highly-rated new electric car is the Renault Zoe. It’s small, nippy and has plenty of room for four.

The Renault Zoe is a great choice for a used electric car too. It has regularly been rated by some of the industry leaders as the best used electric car and continues to come affordably priced. Some of the early Zoe models can be found for as little as £6,000. The battery life improved greatly from 2015 but earlier models still tick the boxes of efficiency and affordability.

Other models to look out for in the used electric car market are the Hyundai Ioniq and the Nissan LEAF. The LEAF was one of the original kids on the electric block and was at the forefront of breaking the electric market, bringing a fully electric family car of a practical size to the masses. Used models after 2016 offer excellent value and have little battery degradation. The other option, the Hyundai Ioniq, will give you the smoothest and most quiet drive of your life, even in older models. They also come with a good stack of equipment as standard, which increases their value for money.

Here at Wilsons, we have an excellent selection of new and used electric cars for you to choose from. Our showroom in Epsom, Surrey is just outside of London and easily accessible for those in London or the home counties who would like to arrange a test drive. Get in touch today.
