How much is the Motability allowance per week?
The mobility allowance on the Motability Car Scheme increased in 2024 to £75.75 per week for eligible recipients of the Higher Rate Component of Disability Living Allowance (HRMC DLA), Enhanced Rate Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (ERMC PIP), and Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP).
By comparison, the War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS) is currently £84.55 - just over £10 more per week. Each of these allowances goes directly toward your vehicle lease if you choose to join the scheme.
It is not possible to buy your car at the end of a Motability Scheme lease, no matter how long you have the car.
The standard lease is for three years, but it may be possible to extend the lease for up to two more years. Other options include choosing a new vehicle or leaving the scheme altogether.
The amount you pay for your Motability Car Scheme lease from your Personal Independence Payment (PIP) depends on the type of lease you have.
