Wilsons' Macmillan Coffee Morning

In support of Macmillan Cancer Support

Here at Wilsons we are proud to support Macmillan Cancer Support by hosting our very own Macmillan Coffee Morning. All of our staff were encouraged to bake or be a willing buyer so that we could raise as much money as possible for a fantastic charity, but also take the opportunity to have a catch up with other members of staff.

We received a fantastic spread of cakes, cupcakes and cookies to choose from. Undoubtedly though, the star of the show was the fantastic Wilsons tyre cake donated to us by The Cake Sisters complete with our company logo and two edible miniature cars. However, we did have our own star baker in the mix with HR Administrator Gareth Williams taking the title of 'best baker' thanks to his delicious lemon sponge cake.

In total, we managed to raise £600 which included a generous company contribution.

Macmillan's first ever Coffee Morning event happened in 1990 and simply involved guests donating the cost of their drink to Macmillan. Originally it was only a small event, but it was so effective that it was planned again for the following year, only this time on a national scale instead. Since then, Coffee Mornings have raised over £138 million for Macmillan, with £25 million raised from last year alone. This year they are aiming to raise even more!

Unfortunately, there are currently 2.5 million people living with cancer in the UK. Statistically one in three of us will get cancer and that is where Macmillan come in. They are experts in providing medical, emotional, practical and financial support for anyone suffering with cancer and their family and friends.

Here are some of our favourite pictures from this morning's event:
