The new MG HS Plug-in Hybrid is MG’s third model with an electrified powertrain and was MGs first ever hybrid car. It uses the petrol model’s 1.5-litre turbocharged engine working in tandem with a 90kW electric motor to give an EV-only range of 32 miles with zero tailpipe emissions – plenty enough for most daily commutes. Starting from an impressive £31,095 the SE range includes MG's intelligent MG Pilot Driver Assistance systems, dual-zone air conditioning, 360° parking camera, Apple CarPlay™, Android Auto™ and heated front seats. Alternatively, choose the top-spec Trophy model which starts from £33,595, and you will also get power tailgate, rear privacy glass, adjustable colour ambient lighting, and sports style front seats.

Exterior

The design of the car is identical to the new HS SUV. The new MG HS Plug-in Hybrid is a bold and striking design that truly helps to enable it to stand out on the road. Drive in style as the exterior of the new MG HS Plug-in Hybrid boasts an array of features that makes your driving experience smooth. This includes a 360 parking camera as well as rear parking sensors, which are part of our parking assist technology, heated mirrors and automatic headlights, resulting in a hybrid SUV that is as full of features on the outside as it is on the inside.

Interior

Inside, soft-touch materials reign supreme as MG’s designers have prioritised comfort and quality to make the cabin a very inviting place. Like the petrol version of the HS, The interior is full of decent plastics and softer touch materials than MGs of the past. For example, the dashboard and door cards feature lovely feeling softer touch material trims. This helps to lift the overall feel and quality of the interior and it must be said that MG have done a very good job in doing so. 

The HS Plug-in Hybrid comes with a 12.3 fully digital instrument cluster which shows the range remaining of the vehicle, in addition to various safety features and road sign recognition to name a few. 

Performance

If you are new to electric cars then a hybrid car is a great first step. The MG HS Plug-In Hybrid uses a combination of an internal combustion engine and an electric motor, making the perfect introduction to a battery powered vehicle. Charge time is around 4.5 hours. With a power output of 258PS (254BHP) and a 0-60mph time in only 6.9 seconds, it is fair to say that the MG HS Plug-in Hybrid offers more than enough power.
