Nissan: The Name You Can Trust For a New EV

Find out what the frontrunner for electric vehicles has in store

Forward thinking in its design, Nissan truly is a modern car brand actively embracing a greener future of electric travel.

As the first Japanese manufacturer to join the ‘Race to Zero’ campaign helping combat climate change, Nissan aims to make all its new vehicles fully electric by the early 2030s.

The manufacturer celebrated an electrifying milestone earlier this year, when it announced over 250,000 EV’s had been sold across Europe. It’s a staggering achievement which brings Nissan one step closer in its commitment to advancing electric mobility.

The milestone marks another exciting development during what’s been over a decade of success for Nissan’s electric range. In this article, we take a look at their current EV offering, as well as what’s in store from the manufacturer as we approach 2022...

Nissan LEAF

Now in its second generation of advanced EV design, it was the Nissan LEAF that kick-started the electric revolution as we know it.

The original Nissan LEAF was launched back in 2010 as the world’s first mainstream all-electric passenger vehicle. Demand for a cost effective everyday electric car saw its popularity grow, thanks to its proven reliability and affordability.

Climate conscious car buyers are celebrating the latest edition of the 100% electric, zero emissions LEAF. The newest model benefits from an advanced performance that is smarter, safer and easier to use than ever before.

Nissan’s intelligent mobility technology makes for the safest, most efficient and economical drive possible. Explore a variety of models within the LEAF’s range, including; the Acenta, N-Connecta, 10, Tekna, e+ N-Connecta, and e+ Tekna.

The Nissan LEAF was named ‘Best Used Family Electric Car’ at the 2022 Carbuyer of the Year Awards in October. Celebrating the best cars on sale in the UK, the LEAF was recognised for providing the most accessible entry-point to all-electric mobility, whilst highlighting many of the car’s features and perks.

The future of Nissan electric vehicles

As part of its pledge to a more sustainable future of travel, Nissan announced in summer 2021 its plans for a £1 billion flagship EV hub. Dubbed ‘EV36Zero’, the hub is a world-first EV manufacturing ecosystem, which will act as a blueprint for the future of the automotive industry.

Designed to accelerate Nissan’s journey towards carbon neutrality, the transformational project will be centred around Nissan’s current Sunderland plant right here in the UK. It will focus its efforts on electric vehicles, renewable energy and battery production.

A new period of sustainable growth for the company is coming; it’s expected at least 75% of Nissan’s sales in the UK and across Europe will be electric vehicles by the end of 2023.

Going yet one step further, Nissan has also announced that it plans to achieve carbon neutrality across its operations and life cycle of its products by 2050.
