Twenty years on from the ground-breaking original, the all-new Renault Scenic has re-entered the market with the hopes of encouraging people to "fall in love again" with the latest model.
Taking design cues from the revamped Renault range, the all-new Scenic features the characteristic oversized chrome diamond badge. This dominates the front grille that also contains familiar LED lighting reminiscent of the newest Megane.
Upgrades in dimensions mean that the Scenic has received an increased boot capacity of 572 litres, up from the previous 555 litres. The new design also features an additional 63 litres of stowage around the car including practical cubby holes, an 11.5 litre electric glovebox and 13 litre pocket in the sliding centre console.
Practicality can also be found in the sun-blinds to shade rear seat passengers and two USB ports to ensure that mobile phones can always remain charged wherever your journey is taking you.
With 20" alloy wheels fitted as standard, the all-new Renault Scenic is an MPV designed to look more like a crossover and SUV rival.
Although it looks as though the suspension has been pumped and the Scenic has a new ride height, it is actually just an elaborate illusion. In fact, the roof is actually lower than its predecessor and the windscreen has been moved forward by 100mm.
The new Scenic's sleek design has sculpted curves in the door similar to the KADJAR and a kinked window line to bring a unique design to the class.
The all-new Renault Scenic can not be accused of following the crowd with its 8.7" touchscreen infotainment system installed in portrait as opposed to the more standardised landscape position. The infotainment system has the option to be fitted with Renault's R-Link 2 technology providing media and navigation features.
Thanks to Renault's partnership with Bose, the new Scenic benefits from an eleven-speaker Bose surround-sound stereo with USB, SD and AUX compatibility so that your audio will sound clearer than ever.
Style and quality is instantly felt when you step inside the all-new Scenic. The dashboard's lines flow seamlessly into the door panels and the new foam-backed plastic ensures that the dash feels luxurious.
The fourth generation Scenic and its big brother, Grand Scenic, are Renault's flagship cars for safety and in-car technology for all future models. They are the only vehicles in their class to receive the Active Emergency Braking System (AEBS) with Pedestrian Detection as standard. The all-new Scenic is also the only model in the segment to achieve five stars in the latest Euro NCAP safety ratings making it one of the safest cars on the road.
In addition to AEBS, the all-new Scenic receives Lane Keeping Assist which will steer the car back into its lane and provide a lane departure warning; Traffic Sign Recognition so you can be notified of any speed limit changes you may not be aware of and Fatigue Alert which measures steering inputs and alerts the driver if signs of tiredness are detected.
The all-new Scenic is also packed will in-car technology including a full-colour head-up display and an 8.7" touchscreen complete with R-LINK technology. These technologies ensure that you are receiving important information in your line of vision and you can stay connected wherever you are.
Despite removing the three individual rear seats from its predecessor, there is comfortably enough space to accommodate three adults across the back.
Thanks to One-Touch control you can create a flat floor in your new Scenic in a flash rather than having to carry out the cumbersome removal of individual seats.
The all-new Scenic is fitted with 'Easy Life' storage features such as a sliding centre console with 13 litres of storage, a drawer in the front and shelves in the back so that you can make the most of its modular layout.
Drivers can customise the way that their new Scenic feels from their seat at the wheel via a Multi-Sense button on the dashboard. With five available modes - Neutral, Sport, Comfort, Person and Eco - they each adjust the responsiveness of the accelerator, steering and (just for automatic models) the speed of the gearshifts.
The fourth generation Scenic is built with ground breaking design that will attract anyone and not just those already driving an MPV. Thanks to the latest developments in engine technology coupled with modular comfort, the all-new Scenic promises a smooth and relaxed driving experience.
The all-new Renault Scenic will be offered with a choice of five engines with a hybrid unit to be released in Spring 2017. There are two Energy TCe turbocharged petrol options and three turbodiesel alternatives.
The powertrains will largely be shared with the new Megane, meaning a range of four-cylinder turbocharged petrol and diesel engines from the new Scenic's launch. The new Scenic will offer:
|||Power (hp @ rpm)||Torque (Nm @ rpm)||Combine Cycle - MPG*||CO2 (g/km)^||Fuel Type|
|Energy 1.2 TCe 115||115||190 @ 2000||48.7||129||Petrol|
|Energy 1.2 TCe 130||130||205 @ 2000||48.7||129||Petrol|
|Energy 1.5 dCi 110||110||260 @ 1750||72.4||100||Diesel|
|Energy 1.5 dCi 130||130||320 @ 1750||62.8||116||Diesel|

*Official Fuel consumption figures are produced for comparison purpose and are measured according to the European Directive 80/1268/EEC. These figures are specific for a vehicle type and not for a single car. Real world fuel (actual) consumption can vary as the fuel efficiency of a vehicle is influenced by driving behaviour, weather and road conditions. The use of technical equipment for example air conditioning, can also effect the fuel consumption. For further information, please visit the Vehicle Certification Agency web site www.vca.gov.uk.
